On Monday, we returned to school to discover that our monarch butterfly had emerged from its chrysalis! We were so excited and were ready to release it so that it could begin its long journey south. We've read several informational texts about caterpillars and butterflies and have been singing songs and completing art projects related to this topic in Music. We learned the fancy word for the changes a caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly. Ask your kindergartner to tell you what that word is! (Hint: it begins with an 'm' and is a really long word!)

It's hard to see, but the black speck in the center of the picture is our butterfly! Have a safe journey! |
Thanks to Charlie and the Garavelli family for sharing their caterpillar with us! We really enjoyed watching its life cycle!
