Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful holiday with your families. I was so happy to see your children's excited faces as they returned to school on Thursday! I meant to put this post up earlier, but time got away from me! So, here are some pictures of all of the holiday activities we did prior to leaving for vacation. It was a busy and fun time in Room 8!
We created ornaments out of tissue paper and glue to decorate our classroom with! |
We spent a day learning about reindeer. We read the classic tale of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and an informational text about real reindeer. We then compared and contrasted Rudolph with real live reindeer, talking about the similarities and differences that we noticed. Then, of course, we created Rudolph hats to wear home!
We had lots of fun on our surprise Polar Express Day! It was a day filled with excitement, as we "traveled" to the North Pole in our pajamas. Mrs. Lasher was the official conductor and we had our tickets punched as we boarded the train. We had lots of fun decorating cookies, watching the Polar Express movie, and sipping hot cocoa. We even got a special package straight from the North Pole addressed to the H.C.S. Kindergarten. Mr. O'Hara delivered the freezing cold package to us and inside we found tiny silver bells for every single child! Santa wanted to make sure we had the bells to remember our special day!
On Thursday, we decorated Christmas trees with our third grade Big Buddies from Mrs. Feussner's class! We had so much fun and were so excited to bring our sweet creations home to enjoy!
Finally, please enjoy this slideshow of our Holiday Party. It was so wonderful to have so many of you join us for this special occasion! The children worked very hard to decorate our space and it looked to me like everyone had a great time! Thank you to all of you for the goodies you contributed!
As you can see, we were very busy! Hopefully, we built some special memories that the children will remember fondly!
