Shelburne Farms Fun!
We had a wonderful, albeit hot, day at Shelburne Farms today! We got to explore the Children's Farmyard, taste cheese, hike to the top of Lone Tree Hill, and more! Thank you so much to ALL of the chaperones who joined us! You really helped to make the day enjoyable for everyone!

Our Summer Birthday Party
Today, we had so much fun celebrating our friends with birthdays during the summer months! We decided to get all fancied up for one final Fancy Friday! We enjoyed birthday games, special books, snack outside, lunch in the classroom, and even made our own party hats. We loved making our own ice cream sundaes using the yummy goodies sent in by the birthday kids' families! Thank you for helping to make this day so much fun for everyone!

More Star Students!
Well, it was a busy day in Room 8, as we had three more friends earn their 100 star t-shirts! Way to go, everyone! I have a feeling that you will see more blog posts in the next few days, as every single student in our class is within seven stars or less of reaching this amazing milestone!

100 Stars!
As a part of our school-wide behavior program, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) each child has been working hard all year long to demonstrate the core values of our school: Belonging, Sharing, Trust, Accepting Responsibility, and Respect. Students earn stars when adults in the building catch them doing any of these awesome things. Once a student reaches the amazing milestone of earning 100 stars, they are given a "100 Star T-Shirt." I was pleased to give out my very first shirt of the year yesterday to this awesome guy! Great work, Elijah! Watch the blog for more photos coming soon, because many, many children are approaching the hundred star mark!
Learning About Plants
Throughout the month of May, we spent several weeks learning all about plants. We discussed what plants need to grow and survive, we learned about the parts of plants, we read lots of wonderful books about plants and gardens, and we even planted several seeds and observed what happened to them in our classroom! Enjoy these photos of some of our activities!

Hinesburg Rocks!
As part of a school-wide initiative to spread and celebrate kindness, we participated in the "Hinesburg Rocks!" campaign in May. We each decorated a rock with a positive message or design that might spread some cheer. At the end of the month, we took a walk into the town to hide our rocks. The hope is that someone will find a rock and it will make them feel happy and inspire them to spread some kindness of their own. Have you seen any rocks as you've been out and about in Hinesburg?
