On Thursday, February 9th, we celebrated our 100th day of school! This is always an exciting milestone in the school year! We spent the day celebrating all things 100! Below are pictures of our 100 cup structures, making fruit look necklaces with 100 fruit loops, playing a game called Roll to 100, and our scavenger hunt for 100 hidden pennies. I've also included pictures of all of the students' projects. It was wonderful to see the creative ideas that you all supported your child with! Thank you!

Global School Play Day
Yesterday, February 1st, we celebrated Global School Play Day (GSPD). The idea behind this day is to bring back unstructured, creative play time for children. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, play, in its simplest form, is often forgotten. For GSPD, children were invited to bring in a toy from home to share and explore with. We started our day by creating a list of expectations to help the day run smoothly. Children were then able to engage in whatever play their little hearts desired (for the most part!) It was amazing to watch the collaboration, creativity, conversations, and fun that took place! I tried to take many pictures throughout the day to document how wonderful it was! Please enjoy them! Circles and Squares Race to Twenty
This week, we learned a new math game, called "Circles and Squares Race to Twenty." Some of the math standards addressed with this game include:
- Counting forward from a given number, rather than starting at 1
- Reading numbers from 0 to 20
- Comparing the number of objects in a group
- Decomposing numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way
We practiced playing this game as a whole class and then played in pairs. Please enjoy the video of two students explaining and modeling how to play the game!

Sneezy the Snowman
Last week, we read a wonderful book called Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright. Poor Sneezy was cold and his friends tried to warm him up, but he melted every single time. Luckily, there is a happy ending! After reading, we brainstormed things that would and would not melt a snowman. We then did a fun art project where we created melted snowmen and wrote about how our snowmen melted. Please enjoy the video of your children reading their pieces below!
